This Town of Telluride funded project, in CDOT right-of-way, incorporated green infrastructure principles. Located at the intersection of State Highway 145 and the Spur turnoff into Telluride, the 53 foot diameter landscape area does not have irrigation, prompting use of hardy native plants and a bioswale to support their growth. With the potential for a future magnesium chloride de-icing system, a small berm around the outer edge ringed in boulders is intended to protect the plantings from the harmful salt mist. Completed 2014.

A DYE DESIGN, the Landscape Architect of Record, was responsible for the hardscape, landscape, and furnishings for plazas and streetscapes. The project included incorporating artist elements, living wall, and over structure planting. A DYE DESIGN also completed the construction observation.

In the heart of Downtown Phoenix located between north and southbound Light Rail Station, A DYE DESIGN re-visioned the 1.5 acre site known as Central Station for the City of Phoenix with ART Architects. The theme of Reuse, Readapt, and Recycle was our design mantra. This award-winning 2012 project achieved an equivalent LEED Gold for Existing Building, Operation, and Maintenance (EBOM). The design recycled existing materials, emphasizes shade, reduces heat absorption, and specified permeable pavements. It features LED in-pavement lighting to aid nighttime wayfinding as well as permanent seating.

A DYE DESIGN was part of a design team tasked with integrating this new bridge into the Historic Context of Downtown Tempe. This effort carried forward work to define three conceptual bridge types with extensive public involvement. Working with public artist Buster Simpson and structural engineers, ADD prepared construction documents for the site. Built 2006.

We created a park in an existing retention basin to be visually reminiscent of river currents when viewed from the new adjacent condominium development. This project features innovative use of gabions and artistic incorporation of a major drainage outlet.

A DYE DESIGN served as the Landscape Architect and Angela Dye as planning coordinator for the nine-mile scenic roadway improvement project successfully using the Context Sensitive Solution program. Our services included construction drawings for the USFS section, charrette facilitation; presentations to the community and design advisory panels; coordination with stakeholders such as Coconino National Forest, Big Park Regional Council/Yavapai County, FHWA, and City of Sedona; and preparation of urban design studies.

The first of its kind in Tempe, Angela’s design helped pave the way for project types like this in the Valley. This project features pedestrian improvements and enhancements to a one-mile section of a busy and multimodal street connecting neighborhoods to downtown and ASU.

This multi–award-winning project, built in 2007, is the completion of A Dye Design’s committed nine-year effort, from initial master planning to construction administration. The firm’s design role included site design, undercrossing aesthetics, Biltmore and Esplanade streetscape frontage, shade analysis, and public/stakeholder facilitation.
